The coolest kids in New York are pro-cupcake. The coolest kids are Carolina Wang and Benny Emeri, the pair behind EATGOODNYC. They’ve created supremely artistic cupcakes for Beyoncé, Gigi Hadid, the Hamilton musical, MTV, pro sports teams, and other clients that are household names.
They recently spoke on an entrepreneurship panel, during which Wang addressed cupcakes’ ability to represent whimsical emotions and identity expressions.
While describing the interpersonal connections formed between baker, client, and recipient of the baked goods, Wang said this dynamic is “kind of why we started with cupcakes.
“People do a lot of massive cakes. I honestly hate making giant, massive cakes because to me somebody’s story is a lot of different, little pieces, so each cupcake is a different part of your story. That’s why we are known for doing these super elaborate cupcakes because every little thing is a story. That’s how you make it memorable.”
Gigi Hadid, their first celebrity client, had this reaction to her special delivery in 2015.
They also do a lot with sneakers brands.
The only thing left to do is lace up one’s sneakers and buy some gourmet cupcakes for today’s National Cupcake Day.
