Georgetown Cupcake closed its New York and L.A. stores in the second half of 2022. These are the first stores the company has closed since its 2008 founding, reducing the retail footprint by one-third. It now operates four stores, down from the previous six.
At the Soho store, customers were notified with a sign on the door.

The cupcakery didn’t advise of the closures in a newsletter or social media posts. Would-be customers found out the hard way.

June 2023 update: The Boston store closed in late May. That leaves just three stores, from a decade-long basis of six.
