The calendar is such great inspiration. It focuses and structures my curriculum and directs my attention to occasions that demand immediate study. The never-ending homework assignments are sweet.
It’s Easter and Passover. What’s for dessert?

I like the style of this Easter bunny. The tuxedo color scheme suits my cupcakology theme this year, Cupcakes and Formal Intention. My work is more purposeful than playful, more intense than impulsive.
For Passover, I was obligated to try two matzo-centric desserts at retail shops.
Ice Cream Jubilee is serving a special chocolate matzo flavor.

Milk Bar Lab has been open in D.C. less than a year. The new kid on the block treated us to this matzo madness creation.

When I first thought about traditional Passover desserts, two things came to mind. I like macaroons just fine, but I made them once and that’s enough for the time being. Flourless chocolate cake doesn’t inspire me. I wasn’t pro-actively looking for Passover desserts to bake. I was content to end my research with the aforementioned tools. Then I stumbled across a post in my social media feed that led me to this flourless orange-saffron cake. Gasp.
