Never say never.
I never thought I’d be enthusiastic about a packaged cupcake. Then I met Bob Goodman.
Destiny must have drawn me to the Goodman Gluten-Free booth at the MetroCooking D.C. show the other weekend. Wandering aimlessly, I came to a booth sampling cookies and cupcakes, so I instinctively stopped to beg like a Pavlovian dog.

Bob Goodman is an impressive fellow. His cookies and cupcakes are in a class by themselves, incomparable in the category. I usually throw away gluten-free cupcakes after one bite. These are inconceivably different and immeasurably better.
They’re gluten-free, dairy-free and shipped frozen then defrosted by the retailer. Until this moment, I didn’t consider that such a cupcake could be credible, except for the dairy-free part. These have eggs, so they’re not vegan, just dairy-free.
But, packaged?! I’ve been enlightened and my curiosity is piqued, to say the least.
Their quality is my December surprise in the run-up to today’s National Cupcake Day. I got up bright and early to claim my limited-edition Sprinkles commemoration and also collect some Georgetown Cupcake research specimens.
